Registering for a class online does NOT guarantee you will get a spot in the class--
all classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

LUNCHES
Bagged lunches will be available to quilters at the school Monday through
Friday for $10 through the efforts of the staff at Rays Food Place.
Bagged lunches must be pre-ordered.
(Please, no orders for school lunches after June 30th.)
Need to borrow a sewing machine for your classes at Quilter’s Affair?
Morrow’s Sewing & Vacuum Center will have machines available for a $20/day rental fee.
Call Ed or Karen at 541-382-3882 after receiving your class confirmation to reserve a machine.
Deadline for reservations is June 1.

Classes run from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and are held at the Sisters High School.
One-day workshops are $70, two-day workshops designated with two numbers beside the title are $140,
and three-day workshops are $210.

This is a one-of-a-kind workshop where Cindy will be your “Bartender” for the day at the Open Thread Bar! This is a great class for all levels of quilters…even the beginner! She will teach you the tricks of using all different types of threads in your machine, how to change your tensions, needles, thread delivery, bobbin work, and so much more. There will be ten cases of thread at your disposal while you spend the day using these threads to make a reference panel, and learn to audition threads doing thread play on provided floral panels. This two-day workshop will be a presentation of technical information about how the sewing machine is designed to work, led by “Quilting Mad Man” Rob Appell. Rob has a background in sewing machine repair, so he offers a lot of information to help students understand their own equipment, and all the little gadgets that are available, so they can improve their machine quilting skills. This lecture will also address body mechanics, physical techniques, and practice drills for quick improvement. Barbara Shapel will then present information about the different types of thread currently available, and sewing machine needles. She will also introduce at least a dozen different machine quilting stitches that she uses in her fiber art pieces. |

Does your child really want to be a part of the Quilter’s Affair classes this year? We are delighted to offer a fun class for our younger sewists with experienced teacher Alethea Ballard! Using simple, traditional, string-piecing techniques, even a beginner can make a great quilt - and no rotary cutting involved! Scheduled in two-three hour sessions over two days, the students will work on a creative, stripey quilt top. This involves sewing a variety of strips to a foundation, either straight or on the bias. Each child will make great quilt squares in an improvisational style. Students who work efficiently can complete the quilt center and maybe even add the borders! Finished quilt size will be approximately 40” x 50”.
**Parents: Please arrive early and help your child get the sewing machine set up and plugged in. Class will begin promptly at 8:30 am or 12:30 pm and parents will be excused at that time. The class will be held for two different age groups 8–12 years old in the morning sessions (426-526) and 13 years–Adult in the afternoon session (427-527). Students will need to be able to thread the bobbin and the sewing machine without help. |

Each workshop is coded by level of expertise: Beginning workshops are for people who have little or no experience with quilt making; Advanced Beginning workshops require you to have rotary cutter and piecing experience; Intermediate workshops require you to be comfortable doing your own interpretation of patterns/designs; and Advanced workshops require you to be comfortable with all levels of designing and creating quilts.
