510 Arc Deco
Karla Alexander
$70
All Levels
65” x 85” * +
Learn to sew gentle curves the easy way, risk free! Build your blocks as you go, making the curves wide or narrow. Inspiration for this quilt came from a picture of an old afghan. The solid fabrics helped replicate the feel of the saturated colors from the yarn. Each fabric square is equivalent to one completed block, making it tempting to pull in additional colors as you built your quilt. If you have fabric you think you might like, bring it along! The creative process used to make the blocks is a ton of fun and the layout possibilities are endless. Include solid squares, or more blocks (small or large) – each quilt will be different from the next, and yours will be your own unique quilt. FABRIC TIP: Karla chose black as the main fabric, as well as for the border. The remaining fabric should be a mix of contrasting colors that you feel look good together. If you prefer not to use solid fabric, choose small-scale prints or a mix of both. Pattern Required: $10
Optional: Circle Savvy Ruler, CGRSAV1 by Creative Grids - $36 |

Soul Searching is an exercise for quilt makers of every skill level. Colour is a tool, and like any technique, it takes practice to learn how to use it properly. In this workshop, we use a simple block design to explore the “stash.” This is a workshop full of “Ah-Ha” moments. At the end we are better able to understand what habits we have developed, but more importantly, how we can improve our understanding of colour. Note: Part of the exercise is the preparation, so enjoy it! If you don’t have enough fabrics for 24 in each colour block, be prepared to purchase on the day or to swap with other members in the group!

522 Around the Block
Amy Walsh
$70
Intermediate
72” x 72” (straight set – no border)
or 84” x 84” (on point – with border) *
This is a great scrappy quilt. We love to use as many fabrics as we can! Our favorite fabrics for the larger (on point) quilt are large and colorful florals mixed with smaller geometric prints, but almost any collection would be stunning. We have made them out of contemporary Westminster floral fabrics, 1800’s reproduction fabrics, as well as batiks, like the sample shown–any collection will work. You may want to experiment with batiks, novelty fabrics, holiday fabrics, or even solids. Bring any fabrics you may have that you want to use, but may not know how to work into your blocks. We’ll explore using them. We’ll be discussing cutting methods and finishing options in class. We do not recommend pre-cutting for this quilt. Two settings are included in this pattern. Straight set and this version, on-point.
