You can sign up for classes at the registration desk at the high school beginning Monday at 8am.

Please Note: There will be a $20 PER PERSON Registration Fee
added to all Quilter's Affair Class Sign-ups.

(This will not show up in the shopping cart. Registration Fee is non-refundable.)
An additional $10.00 fee will be charged for any changes made after we have processed your initial registration.

Registering for a class online does NOT guarantee you will get a spot in the class--all classes will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please list your secondary choices for all classes in the "Ordering Instructions" box on the shopping cart page, in order of preference (2 - 5).

LUNCHES
Bagged lunches will be available to quilters at the school Monday through Friday for $10 through the efforts of the staff at Ray’s Food Place.
Bagged unches must be pre-ordered.

(No orders for school lunches after June 30th.)

Need to borrow a sewing machine for your classes at Quilter’s Affair? Morrow’s Sewing & Vacuum Center will have machines available for a $20/day rental fee.
Call Ed or Karen at 541-382-3882 after receiving your class confirmation to reserve a machine. Deadline for reservations is June 1.

Classes run from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm and are held at the Sisters High School.
One-day workshops are $70, two-day workshops designated with two numbers beside the title are $140, and three-day workshops are $210.

In this hands-on class, discover the secrets of embroidery, trapunto, piping, couching, and quilting by hand or machine to give your quilts that extra zing. Students will make several small studies or one large wall quilt using line in many sensitive and exciting ways. Slides and class examples will see you “line dancing” forever!

This class is built on the idea of exploring abstract design by making small studies. Gwen soon began to think of these small studies as sketches. Just as painters use sketches to explore possibilities, fabric sketches are for working things out – for learning new techniques, exploring color and composition.

They are your ticket to play, and provide an expedient way to develop your own aesthetics in a safe, worry free space. Making sketches is like taking a crash course in design. This class is illustrated with Gwen’s small studies from her new book 37 Sketches.

The sun or the moon – which will you choose? This pattern can be interpreted in either way. In any way, however, the value of the fabric will be important in making the overall results sing. By using an easy freezer paper machine appliqué method, this complex-looking design is actually quite easy to make! The pattern includes a master drawing and step-by-step instructions to complete the quilt. Workshop attendees will also learn how to place a sun on one side of the piece and a moon on the reverse, as well as quilting instructions to really help make the water come to life.

Classic color concepts come into play in the making of this modular quilt. You’ll sew sixteen basic blocks, then rotary cut them through the center in both directions and reconfigure the units into seemingly complex blocks.

Students will observe Janet drawing on an overhead projector and then practice drawing with pen in their own sketchbook. No actual stitching will be done in class. Each student is encouraged to bring a quilt top to class for group discussion on creating a quilting game plan based on the motifs learned in class.

This project features concentric “rings” made from modified Snowball blocks. Using a neutral solid fabric as both the center and the background for each block creates a graphic, modern pattern on the quilt top. Leftover fabric from the blocks is used to make a pieced detail on the quilt back. This is a great skill-building quilt.

Glorious flowers is a grand floral quilt using Kaffe Fassett’s fabrics, highlighting many of his red florals, with some pink used as well. The quilt is made of two blocks that are easily pieced and set on point. The techniques used to set a quilt “on point” will be included in this class.

Those of you that like to use Bali Pops and Jelly Rolls in their quilts will enjoy this class. Plan on using some kind of pre-cut strips or rolls for this quilt, plus a background fabric. Scrappy may mean a traditional quilt pattern--but you never know if Lawry might add a twist or two! There will be a bit of pre-class cutting to give you a head start in class.

Each workshop is coded by level of expertise: Beginning workshops are for people who have little or no experience with quilt making; Advanced Beginning workshops require you to have rotary cutter and piecing experience; Intermediate workshops require you to be comfortable doing your own interpretation of patterns/designs; and Advanced workshops require you to be comfortable with all levels of designing and creating quilts.
