Working at a design wall with your choice of either a neutral or monochromatic palette, we will explore ways to place fabrics of differing values in order to create the look of a craftsmaninspired window. Once the design decisions are made, the wall hanging-sized quilt is quick and easy to assemble and the results are sure to be stunning.

This wildlife sampler has many possibilities. You can create the size that suits your needs – for the bed, wall or lap. In class you will learn a variety of techniques from hand and fusible appliqué, perfect piecing, block sizing, to the use of color, intensity, and value to keep your eye moving throughout the quilt. The wildlife theme can be combined with other subjects to create your own specialty quilt. This two-day workshop is designed for the quilter who has the basic cutting and piecing skills.

This class is a survey of the various finishing techniques necessary for finishing knitted garments. We will cover the Mattress Stitch (weaving seams), set-in sleeves, the Kitchener Stitch (grafting shoulder seams), setting in a zipper, weaving in yarn ends, making fringe and picking up stitches to all ribbing and crochet edging.

Simple machine appliqué techniques will be explored in this small wall hanging that Jean has designed with garden motifs. She will share leaf and flower shapes that you may use, or bring in shapes of your own. The small appliqués are stitched as individual quilts, then sewn to a quilted surface to add a dimensional look. Free motion quilting is used in the background.
