Who doesn’t love a mystery quilt project? Lawry has a mystery project that will keep you guessing! After each meeting you will go away with sewing tasks, then come back the following month for the next clue. In the final session, Lawry will “unveil” the finished quilt and you get to share your creative quilt with its own unique touches.

*If you live out of town, or can’t get to our monthly classes, you can still participate using mail order. Just let us know, so Lawry can mail the instructions to you each month.

**Note: April meeting will run from 8:00-8:45 am. May meeting will run from 8:45-9:15 am.

We’ve taken of one Jean’s favorite basket quilts and updated it, using Silhouettes (laser cut, fusible shapes ready for appliqué) from Laundry Basket Quilts. Each month, club members will receive one packet of flowers and Laura’s instructions for adapting the shapes to create a customized basket of flowers. Opportunities to individualize quilts are presented when club members provide their own fabric for baskets, block backgrounds and pieced sashings.

The classic art of embroidery is making a comeback! Learn basic embroidery stitches that can be used to embellish pillows, quilts, felted wool projects, or anything that needs an extra touch of something pretty. Students will create an embroidery stitch sampler that will grow with each new stitch. The sampler will become a tool you can refer back to when you need embellishment ideas.

Using Sue Spargo’s book Greenbrier as inspiration, Barbara takes you on a journey into the world of wool appliqué. You will explore embroidery and embellishment techniques in a variety of projects. Make the Greenbrier quilt shown here, or choose to create smaller projects from the individual blocks.

Dear Jane Club is back again! “Janiacs” are quilters who have become addicted to making the 4½” blocks (225 in all!) that make up Dear Jane quilts, based on the original quilt made by Jane Stickle in 1863. Jeanne will give demonstrations when needed, as members work at their own pace. Whether you are a returning member or new to Dear Jane, come join this fun group and create your own version of a Dear Jane quilt, then enter it in the special exhibit at the 2013 Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show.

Toes in the Sand

Put your toes in the sand and work on this quilt at a relaxed pace! This new Block of the Month quilt, designed by Julie Herman, features 12 unique blocks all created with the Hex-N-More Ruler (and no pesky Y seams!) Each month, club members will receive enough fabric to create two blocks of the same design. With creative fabric placement, your quilt will appear to have 24 different blocks. The first month will include a demonstration of how to use the Hex-N-More Ruler. In the following eleven months, fabric packets with instructions may be picked up or mailed out after the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Limited number of fabric kits available.

Students enjoyed last year’s Saturday Sampler so much that we are offering another Marti Michell BOM Sampler Quilt “Medallion.” Return with Lawry on this journey from easily pieced blocks to more complex piecing techniques using a variety of tools, including the highly recommended Perfect Patchwork Templates-Set A and Set L. Students will receive a Club Notebook to keep monthly patterns and handouts organized. Each month, club members will also receive a sampling of fabric for block piecing, with two variations from which to choose: contemporary (shown above) or batik (TBA). Opportunities to individualize quilts are presented when club members provide their own fabric for block backgrounds, sashings and borders. Quilt finishes at approximately 94" square.
