Pansy Pincushion Pattern

For three pincushions, you will need:

1/8 yard for the flower

1/8 yard for the front and back

1/8 yard paper backed adhesive

perle cotton or embroidery floss

needle

filler of your choice

Cut the back and front background squares 4 1/2". Trace the pansy petals on to paper backed adhesive. Iron on to flower fabric. Cut out pansy petals, layer the pieces in numerical sequence and fuse to background fabric.

Buttonhole stitch applique around the pansy petals and embroider the detail on the pansy.

Place completed pincushion top and back right sides together and stitch around all sides with 1/4" seam allowance leaving a 2" opening on one side. Turn right side out, fill with your favorite filler and slip stitch opening closed. Please enlarge the image above to 150% for proper size, if you are printing out in Internet Explorer. Netscape users appear to receive the image in its proper size. Image size should be 3 3/4" square.
