How about this… a shop hop type event with no fees, no passports and all summer to play? Simply visit any of the participating shops and receive a free pattern for a row in a quilt. Combine your rows in any way to create a unique quilt that represents the fun you had traveling throughout the summer. Travel with friends, discover new quilt shops and have fun collecting rows!

Exclusive Fabric Plates by Zebra Patterns will be available in shops around the country. Each one is unique! Collect a bunch to create fun projects, sewing studio wall art or even a fun backing for your quilt.

Each area has their own Facebook page. Like the page from the areas you visit to see pics of the rows,

Details: This year's theme is "Sew A Season."

Create a quilt using at least 8 different rows and be the first to bring it into a participating shop to win a stack of 25 fat quarters (6-1/4 yards of fabric!). Use that shop’s row in your quilt and win a bonus prize!

Travel and collect rows: July 1 - September 2, 2014
(You must go to each shop in person to collect their row pattern.)

Bring in completed quilt for prize: July 1 - October 31, 2014

We are featuring the Three Sisters and Cascades Mountains in this fusible applique quilt row.

Kits may be available at the shop--remember you have to physically walk in to the shop to pick up the pattern.

Clubhouse Wednesdays

Featuring Demos & Free Sit-N-Sew

Wednesday Demos 9-10am • Sit-N-Sew 10am-5pm (Begins again after Labor Day)

Join our "Clubhouse" each Wednesday for a morning demo followed by open Sit-N-Sew. Bring your current project or one that's been stashed away, and settle in for the day. We will provide treats at 2pm. There is no cost for Sit-N-Sew, however, there may be a small lab fee for the demo depending on the project being presented. Drop in, or make Clubhouse a weekly event. A staff member will be on hand to answer any questions throughout the day.

SAQA is a national organization founded in 1989 to serve artists working in the art quilt medium. As the co-representative for Oregon Jean Wells formed a parlor group that meets monthly to share ideas, critique, and have guest speakers. If you are interested in attending a meeting, Leotie Richards at lotidesignworks@ gmail.com will be the new representative beginning in August.

Most meetings are held at The Stitchin’ Post in the classroom. Tentative meeting dates are listed above.

What is MODERN quilting?
“Modern” seems to be the new buzz word in quilting these days.
But what does it mean to be a modern quilter?
Weeks Ringe of American Quilt Retailer Magazine recently shared a few ideas
about what it means to be MODERN:

Modern quilts are original and do not come from patterns or techniques of traditional quilt designs. Modern fabric combinations are more eclectic rather than using fabrics from one particular line. Also, solid fabrics are very favorable. Modern quilting is about creativity and exploration. The modern quilter is not necessarily young!

10th Annual Christmas Hospice Fundraiser

Help support Hospice of Redmond/Sisters and you could win a $150 Stitchin’ Post/Twigs Gift Certificate. This year we’re making pot holders! The only rule is that your pot holder must be turned in to the Stitchin’ Post by Wednesday, November 26th. All pot holders will be displayed at the “Festival of the Trees” on December 6th at the Deschutes County Fairgrounds. Viewers attending the festival will choose the winning runner. All pot holders become the property of Hospice.

Class Registration Policies & Procedures

CLASSES
The following applies to all classes offered in this Class Schedule:

What do I need for class?
Each class has a Supply List. There may be additional Kit or Lab Fees for special supplies, such as freezer paper, fabric paints, special templates, etc. Fabric requirements will be listed in your supply list. Some classes require preparation prior to your first class, e.g., pre-cutting fabric, bringing design ideas, etc. Once you register for your class and receive your Supply List, you will receive a 15% discount on all required supplies. To receive the discount, you must have your Supply List with you when you make your purchase..

Registration Procedures
Pre-registration and payment are required. Register during our Fall/Winter Preview Party and receive a 10% discount on the fee. You may register by phone (541-549-6061) or at the store. You receive a 10% discount any time you register on-line at www.stitchinpost.com/classes.html (Sorry, discount does not apply to Clubs, Special Events, Retreats, or Workshops.))

Class Cancellation Policy
You must cancel at least TEN DAYS prior to the class for a full refund. If the Stitchin’ Post cancels a class, you may take a store credit or request a refund.

Sometimes We Cancel a Class….
On occasion we will cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. We make that decision ten (10) days before the scheduled class. We recommend that you call to confirm that the class has met its minimum enrollment and will go on as scheduled. The safest bet is to do your class purchases within ten (10) days of the class date.

 

What are my Basic Sewing Supplies (BSS)?
BSS includes sewing machine in good working order, rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler, scissors, tape measure, pencil, pins, and seam ripper.

Winter Weather Alert!
Weather can be unpredictable here in Central Oregon. When winter weather affects driving conditions, our priority is safety! Please note that if the Sisters School District is closed due to weather conditions, we will also cancel class that day. We will reschedule the class for another day, based on classroom and instructor availability.

A Friendly Reminder For A Healthy Classroom
If you have a cold, flu symptoms, or a lingering cough, please be considerate of fellow classmates and the instructor by staying home and taking care of yourself. Call the store in advance to let us know you are not feeling well, and we will do what we can to accommodate your illness.
Along the same lines, we have many students who are sensitive to perfumes and scented lotions; please avoid wearing such products to class.
