Beginning Knitting 101*

Make a scarf as you learn the basics of knitting: casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, rib stitch, and binding off to complete the project. New skills will include learning to read a pattern, understanding gauge, and joining yarns.

Have you always wanted to learn how to do needle-turn hand applique? It is a terrific addition to any quilt. Tonye will share her simplified techniques with a no-pressure approach. So, gather up your fabric scraps and choose a “neutral” background and give it a whirl!

Learn how to rotary-cut fabric and piece together basic quilt blocks, while making a sampler-style quilt. Lawry will take you start-to-finish through your choice of a 6-, 9-, or 12-block sampler.
Note: Attendance at first class is mandatory.

Class Registration Policies & Procedures

CLASSES
The following applies to all classes offered in this Class Schedule:

What do I need for class?
Each class has a Supply List. There may be additional Kit or Lab Fees for special supplies, such as freezer paper, fabric paints, special templates, etc. Fabric requirements will be listed in your supply list. Some classes require preparation prior to your first class, e.g., pre-cutting fabric, bringing design ideas, etc. Once you register for your class and receive your Supply List, you will receive a 15% discount on all required supplies. To receive the discount, you must have your Supply List with you when you make your purchase..

Registration Procedures
Pre-registration and payment are required. Register during our Fall/Winter Preview Party and receive a 10% discount on the fee. You may register by phone (541-549-6061) or at the store. You receive a 10% discount any time you register on-line at www.stitchinpost.com/classes.html (Sorry, discount does not apply to Clubs, Special Events, Retreats, or Workshops.))

Class Cancellation Policy
You must cancel at least TEN DAYS prior to the class for a full refund. If the Stitchin’ Post cancels a class, you may take a store credit or request a refund.

Sometimes We Cancel a Class….
On occasion we will cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. We make that decision ten (10) days before the scheduled class. We recommend that you call to confirm that the class has met its minimum enrollment and will go on as scheduled. The safest bet is to do your class purchases within ten (10) days of the class date.

 

What are my Basic Sewing Supplies (BSS)?
BSS includes sewing machine in good working order, rotary cutter, cutting mat, ruler, scissors, tape measure, pencil, pins, and seam ripper.

A Friendly Reminder For A Healthy Classroom
If you have a cold, flu symptoms, or a lingering cough, please be considerate of fellow classmates and the instructor by staying home and taking care of yourself. Call the store in advance to let us know you are not feeling well, and we will do what we can to accommodate your illness.
Along the same lines, we have many students who are sensitive to perfumes and scented lotions; please avoid wearing such products to class.
