New from Windham Fabrics--Gees Bend Quilt Kits!
Debby Kratovil has adapted the original quilt designs for Windham fabrics, creating easy piecing instructions so you can make a your own version of this quilt made by Gee's Bend quilter Qunnie Pettway.
The 100% cotton fabric used in these quilt kits are hand dyed by artisans who specialize in this unique trade. Every yard is unique and unlike any other yard. Much like in the original quilts, it is not uncommon to find slight imperfections in printing, making each strip or block a one of a kind masterpiece.
This kit includes the
pattern and all the fabric needed to make the quilt top and binding, you will need
to provide batting and backing.

About the Quiltmaker: Qunnie Pettway (b. 1943)
The great-granndaughter of Dinah Miller who is said to have arrived in the United States aboard a slave ship from Africa - the Clotide which docked in Mobile Bay, Alabama prior to the Civil War. Qunnie learned to quilt House Tops under the tutelage of her mother, Candis Pettway. In 1960 after she married, she found her unique artistic voice and began making patterned quilts including Wedding Ring - which she learned from her sister - Chestnut Bay, Bear Paw and Crazy Z. Qunnie's daughter. Loretta P. Bennett is one of the youngest quilters actively creating extraordinary quilts today.
