At FivePine Lodge & Conference Center
Monday - Friday, Sept 28 - October 2, 2009

Exercises in creative thinking will generate ideas for individual quilt projects to be designed and sewn in class. Janet will demonstrate how to combine images into a drawing for projection, pattern drawing, and curved machine piecing. Come prepared to unleash your creativity and design a quilt that is not only beautiful, but conceptual as well.

CAROL TAYLOR
|

The Value of Value Retreat
With Carol Taylor
At FivePine Lodge & Conference Center
Monday - Friday, Sept 28 - October 2, 2009
$575 (includes instruction and meals)
Want to learn how to use value to make your quilt stand out and "flow" from light to dark, while making a vertical or horizontal quilt? This retreat emphasizes a simple, hands-on method of learning to use fuse patchwork with couched circles. Here is a chance to use some of those fancy and unusual fabrics that you've been attracted to, but didn't know how to use. We will tame them by fusing, and learn to mix them with other textured-looking fabrics. See http://www.caroltaylorquilts.com/ for more information on Carol.

ABSTRACT QUILTS IN SOLIDS
WORKSHOP
with Gwen Marston
March 8 - 9, 2010
|

At the Stitchin' Post
Monday - Tuesday, March 8 - 9, 2010
$150 (includes lunch)
Quilts made in strong colors by the amish were the first quilts to be viewed as art. Of late, the dazzling assortment of new prints has justifiably attracted great attention, and solids have been regulated to the back burner. This class is meant to be a reminder that solids have their own distinctive characteristics, which shouldn't be overlooked by the quilter intent on doing original, abstract work.
Working with free-form improvisational construction, you will create your own original quilts using Gwen's easy design concepts and techniques. This class is good for the beginning, advanced, traditional, or art quilter. Come join the fun as Gwen shows you her easy methods for creating your own original quilts. Gwen's new book is a valuable resource for this class, and is available here at the store.
